One memory of Cleopatra Anderson is from a hot summer day in September 1964 in St. Louis. The sun was beating down, approaching 90 degrees in Tandy Park, where Mrs. Anderson stood with 17 children who were celebrating their tennis competition, having gone undefeated against competition from throughout the city, and winning the title of City Tennis Champs, Muny Junior Inter Park Tennis. We were 11, 12 and 13 years old. The group that gathered that day to close-out the season included Erma Anderson, one of Mrs. Anderson’s four daughters, Henrine one of my two sisters, Anthony my brother, and me. It was great that the St. Louis Argus newspaper was there to capture the moment.
