I'm so devastated to hear that my favorite pre school teacher had passed away. She had been in my mind heavy throughout the years. I used to visit her as a young adult when she was still teaching. The workers and students there couldn't believe that someone my age was still coming up to visit her. She was my all time favorite teacher. Always had a smile and hug for everyone of her students. Even if you were in trouble, she never yelled at you. She would just calmly explain what happened and why you should not have done the action that was considered negative. Then show you how to turn that negative into a positive. When she retired I…
So sorry to hear that Miss Stella passed away and even more sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral. I worked with Miss Stella for many years and she was one of the few people that welcomed me to UMSL. I was young and new in early childhood education and every time I saw her, she had encouraging words to give. When I finally got to work closly with her and see her teaching, it was very inspiring! She had the same spirit she greeted me with for every child in her care. She was calm and loving to every child, even when they tested her. Such a wonderful woman.
So sorry to hear this. Stella was the first teacher I worked with at UCDC years ago. She treated each and every one of those kids like her own. I learned so much from her and her encouragement and support helped me get through nursing school. What a beautiful soul- she influenced a lot of people. Her kindness will never be forgotten. Love and peace to Stella's family.
There are few people as sincere and kind-hearted as Stella. She touched the lives of many young children in her years of teaching at UCDC. She touched my life too in the years we worked together at the child development center. My prayers are with her family and friends.
Stella was the first teacher I worked under at University Child Development Center (UCDC) when I was a work study student way back in 1984. She influenced my life and helped me decide to be a teacher of the little ones. I'm indebted to her. She always had a smile and was so kind to everyone. She certainly influenced many people, adults and children. She left a lasting legacy! Prayers of peace and comfort to her family. -Patti Hauschild Hoffman
